Celebrating 25 years of service     continued

Our work in recent years has moved away from shared living to concentrate on individual support to people at home and to access community services, and we have continued to help those whom others might find challenging. Constructive activity and meaningful occupation remain a high priority to ensure people live fulfilling lives. Activities we have organised recently include The Monthly Social Nights, Rambles, Woodwork, Art & Craft, Climbing, Cycling, and just a few weeks ago a Driving Experience.

It would be great for ComCO to get involved with Supported Living again, especially when you see the success of Darren Court under a system of Direct Payments via a Broker. I have wondered why more service-users and their families in Bolton haven’t gone for this option, when it gives such control, stability and peace of mind, as one of the parents outlines in this publication. And of course, if people had genuine choice over who provides their care though such a system, we would be confident many would choose ComCO

Whatever services it provides in the future, I am sure that ComCO will retain that family feeling first engendered at Grosvenor House, that means service-users and staff alike, rarely want to leave. I am equally certain that the company will continue to evolve and look forward in the way it always has,
