The second ever ‘Comco’s Got Talent’ Contest took place at the Railway Club, Green Lane on Tuesday the 7th of October.  Hosted by Comco Director of Operations, and resident DJ Darren Birmingham of Music4Confidence, nine Acts played to a packed audience which included special guest, Elaine Taylor of Bolton FM.

Reigning Champion Paul Eadie was back with another Abba song ‘SOS’ after winning 3 years ago with ‘Mamma Mia’.

This time it wasn’t his night.  Competition was stiff with all nine contestants having attended rehearsals at Darren’s Music4Confidence Workshop.

At the end of the performance, all present got up to vote and when counted up, Gareth Broughton, who had come all the way from Preston with a big following was the winner, taking first prize of £100.  His performance of Phil Collins ‘In the Air Tonight’ went down well, especially with him accompanying himself on drums.

James Hooton was a worthy second place with ‘New York, New York’ whilst Paul Holland, recent star of live radio at Bolton FM, took third with a Beatles number ‘We can Work it out’.

Elaine from Bolton FM presented the prizes and Gareth was asked up to repeat his winning song.

The popularity of ‘Comco Social Nights’ continues to increase, and inspired by the contestants, many of the audience came up to sing after the break.  A lot of them said they’d be entering next time - we might even have to have heats.
