Paul our new member of staff at the Training Centre has successful passed his ‘Introduction to Trainer Skills’ course with comment from the assessor 'Excellent enjoyable session, very hands on - well done Paul’.

The City & Guilds Introduction to Trainer Skills is designed to provide the participants with a sound introduction to the concepts of a systematic approach to training. It is comprehensive  in content at this level, building the skills, knowledge and abilities of a participant that is required to be an effective trainer.

On completion of the Introduction to Trainer Skills, learners will equip themselves and their employer with a member of staff who is able to plan, deliver and evaluate effective training, no matter what the content of the subject they are delivering.

Comco's regular social event for people with disabilities and mental health problems, takes place from 7pm onwards on the first Tuesday of each month, at The Railway Club on Green Lane. Activities include karaoke, disco, bingo and talent contests.  The November event staged live music from new Bolton Band, The Attic Doctors, who volunteered their services and went down very well, playing material written by the band.

The Social Night is free and open to anyone with a disability or mental health problem. Community Care Options is a registered charity and provides support to people in their own home and for community activities. Further details from Director of Operations, Phil Schofield on 01204 360220 or email phil.schofield@comco.org.uk

Autumn Holidays
Whilst the weather is unpredictable, the Ramble Group, led by Ian, are taking a break and hope to try one or two different activities. We are being helped in this by Graham at WAVE, a local organisation who provide active pursuits for people with disabilities and mental health problems. In October Paul, Stewart and Richard went along to Ardwick and reached some dizzy heights on the Climbing Wall, an activity organised by Ian and Graham at the Manchester Climbing Centre.

James and Jack went on a short break to the New Forest, also with Duncan. Their highlight was visiting  at Leamington which includes the National Motor Museum, where they were particularly pleased to see James Bond’s Car and also the Top Gear Exhibition
Andrew enjoyed his first holiday in some years, with support from Duncan recently. They stayed at Barrow-in-Furness and enjoyed a steam train ride to Windermere, as well as a Boat Trip on the Lake. Andrew is a big Laurel and Hardy Fan and was delighted to have the opportunity to visit the museum in Stan’s home town of Ulverston

Edward Montagu inherited the Beaulieu Estate on the death of his father, John Montagu, a motoring pioneer, when he was just two years old. The family seat, Palace House, was built around the original gatehouse of Beaulieu Abbey, a Cistercian monastery founded on land granted to the Order by King John in 1204. The Estate was sold to Lord Montagu’s ancestor, Thomas Wriothesley, 1st Earl of Southampton, by Henry VIII in 1538.
