Part of the Bolton FM interview
Comco on Bolton FM "Community Corner" program
The stunning views are from Catbells - a peak at the side of Derwent Water. This walk has been written about by many an author (most famously Alfred Wainwrigh)t and has been shown in a number of t.v. shows - recently by Julia Bradbury.

We started the day travelling to Keswick, a popular tourist town in the Lake District. A short but scenic ferry ride from Keswick stopped at Hawse End - the starting point of the walk.

This is when the climb started - despite the assurances by all the publicity, this climb is not for the faint hearted - it is a number of steep ascents, split by welcome flat sections.

The lads did great and managed to get to the last steep ascent to the summit. After some well deserved rest they made for the top.
The hard work was well worth the effort - the views are as good as the reviews say.
After taking in the views and a good rest everyone returned back to the ferry and another great relaxing ferry ride back to Keswick. Well done to Richard, James and Stewart for a great effort.

Comco and Darren Birmingham’s Music Workshop (Music4Confidence) were invited to talk about the Social Nights on Bolton F.M.

We were contacted by Elaine Taylor, one of the presenters, who had heard about Comco Social Nights from information in the Bolton News.  We appeared on the Community Corner part of her show on Wednesday evening, 10th September, 2014.

Darren brought Paul, who attends his Music Workshop, as well as our Social Nights, and Rob from Darren Court volunteered to join Phil Schofield to represent Comco.

None of us had been on the radio before so we were all a bit nervous.  But Elaine helped us all to relax and made us drinks as she chatted to us about the plan for the show.

Bolton FM is broadcast from Bolton Market Radio on Ashburner Street.  Some of our clients might remember doing courses there in the past. At 7.30pm Elaine showed us through to the studio, where her two colleagues were already broadcasting.  We were each positioned by a microphone and given headsets on which we could hear the show being broadcast.

We told the audience all about Comco and what we do.  Darren explained about his Music Workshops at Big Studios.  Elaine and her colleagues thought that Comco’s Social Nights were a great idea.  They were impressed by how the event was organised and what a great venue the Railway Club sounds.

They were particularly interested to hear about Comco’s Got Talent and even suggested they might come and take a look. Rob spoke about what a good course the DJ Project was and how he hopes to make his DJ Debut at The Railway Club soon.Paul had no nerves as he sang “Ticket to Ride” live on radio backed by Darren on guitar. There was even a compliment for those who work at Darren Court with Rob telling listeners “The staff are all reet!”.

We were amazed how relaxed it all was.  When music or adverts were playing, Elaine and her colleagues were laughing and joking with us, switching their professional voices on when we were back on air. They were very keen to keep in touch and hear about how our projects develop, with an invite back on the show a real possibility.
