The cars are made by Speed of Sight and have dual controls. There is an also an off road vehicle, an alternative the 3 guys admired and considered before opting for the racing model. The off road vehicle is quite spacious and suitable for people with physical disabilities. Both vehicles have powerful engines and John, the event organiser told us that the car Paul, James and Martin was driving could do 0-60 m.p.h. in 3 ½ seconds.
Paul, Martin and James were really excited and all three managed to pick up some speed, with the odd skid and swerve along the way and some tyre marks left on the track all adding to the excitement.  Afterwards they were each interviewed by the organiser. Paul gave the whole event 10 out of 10, whilst Martin said it he hadn’t had such a good time for 10 years. James said he had been nervous at the start but that the instructor helped him gain confidence and he was very pleased with how he was driving by the end.
The Event is normally £100, quite expensive with a high insurance cost but the rest of the money goes to Speed of Sight’s projects including the funding of Mike Newman’s Blind Speed Record attempts. The Comco Guys got to meet him and learned about his amazing feats. They saw the Guiness Book of Records entry of his World Land Speed Record at over 200 m.p.h. in a Nissan GTR. His most recent record was in a truck at 120 m.p.h. and he was soon to attempt a Speed Boat record.
Paul, Martin and James were lucky enough to get today’s experience at £35 due to some special funding obtained by the charity.
There is a possibility of Comco having its own track day with Speed of Sight. All we have to do is find 15 people who want to have a go and who are willing to commit to raising at least £200 which will be split between the two charities, any additional funding going to Comco. The offer is open to people with any disability and also to able-bodied people. Anyone interested please contact us at Head Office.
