The charitable organisation Community Care Options, providing high quality services for people with a disability, come together in monthly social nights.
The amiable community celebrates dynamism and friendship with their monthly get-togethers, and tonight’s social sees an all-embracing and fun talent show. In raising money for future social nights, through fundraising and sponsorship of gifted acts, tonight sees an array of joyous entertainment.
Great Lever’s The Railway Club sees the merriment of music and dancing for all, with a vast bill of vibrant singers and performers.
The Social Night sees music for every taste, from Terry’s impassioned ‘Danny Boy’, and Scott’s pop-tastic rendition of Robbie Williams ‘Millennium’ to Paul’s hip shaking take on Elvis Presley’s ‘Jailhouse Rock’ and Crystal’s soulful Tina Turner classic ‘Simply The Best’.
Punk even makes the evening’s set-list as Martin looks the part for Sid Vicious’ ‘My Way’, adorned in a glittering punk-esque T-shirt. Whilst contrastingly, David gives a soft rendition of Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’ and Norma sings a beautiful ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’.
Rousing rounds of ‘sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-la!’ and involving hand claps rise in the audience, with an enthusiastic cover of Tony Christies’ ‘Amarillo’. Clifford embraces a Cliff Richard persona (wig and all) for a bouncing round of ‘Summer Holiday’. However, an all-encompassing Abba performance steals the show.
Simon & Richard embrace tonight’s performance whole-heartedly, dressed in Abba-esque patterns and flares for an uplifting ‘Waterloo,’ taking the top as the talent show’s winners. The pair even sees the fun accompaniment of female backing singers endowed with bodacious blonde wigs and large inflatable comedy microphones.
The night draws to a celebratory close, with a captivating take on Carly Rae Jepson’s ‘Call Me Maybe’ from Georgia, followed by groovy moves and shapes on the dance-floor from everybody, as DJ Darren spins classic party tunes.
With an eclectic range on the bill tonight, and as a spirited and friendly community, Comco’s social nights are not to be missed.
